Yakutat Residents Can Now Receive Real Time Public Safety Messages Through Nixle

The Yakutat Police Department has partnered with Nixle to implement its Community Notification System to alert residents in real-time for localized emergency situations and relevant community advisories.

As a resident, there are several simple ways to register

Once registered, residents will receive a confirmation text to their mobile device. Residents may also customize their alert settings by going to www.nixle.com and creating a user profile.

Update

It has recently come to our attention that Anchorage South (A South), from Alaska State Troopers, has our city Zip Code attached to their messaging system. If you initially signed up using our Zip Code you can simply opt out of the A South messages. Messages from us here in the police department will come from "YAKUTAT PD"

  • Nixle has a way for you to send TIPS directly to us and it is anonymous!!!
  • Text your tip, be sure to include the word "tip" at the beginning of your message, to 888777, when prompted select YAKUTAT.
  • You can also go to the Nixle website and submit your tip through there
  • A link will be provided to you to add information to the tip if you need

We are excited to announce the Yakutat Police Department's newest way to keep all of our citizens informed! This program can be used in the event of meteorological emergencies, important messages to the community and general public safety concerns. Please feel free to register with Nixle and start getting updates. More information will be coming soon on all the other possibilities with Nixle.

The service is secure, reliable and easy to use for our organization.

All Alerts will be targeted geographically, allowing residents to receive localized, relevant alerts from Yakutat Police Department.
